Dead protoplasm may weigh the same as when it is alive,but it definately does not react the same. You cannot extract protoplasm without killing it,and even if you were sucessfull in deoxidizing it within guanine it would become a carcynogen in its recombinent phase. Basically if we started breeding with clone deoxidized nucleic acid(DNA) then it would introduce congenital defects into the entire strain in its recombinent nucleic acid(RNA) phase.
