My name is Terry Eyland and I am working for AMEC Earth & Environmental (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office) who have been contracted by Defence Construction Canada. My task is to research sources of information for the environmental cleanup at Melville Radar Station and Goose Bay Air Base, Labrador. Do you have any memories, photographs or other documents that may be of help? Any memory of life on the base, disposal procedures for old POL, etc., crashes and accidents, fuel facilities and/or use, military exercises, firing ranges, garbage and ammo dumps, the US pull-out in 1976, etc. would be of interest. I am particularly interested in locating the disposal sites where surplus materials were buried by US forces before they left. No detail is too small!!!
