Headless chickens

Since finally giving in to modern technology a few years ago and venturing on to the net to see what others have to say, I'm reminded of the part in the Scriptures that speaks of an increase in knowledge that causes people to run around like Chickens with their heads cut off.

I've really enjoyed hearing every explanation to every topic under the Sun as if every new opinion generated some NEW FORM of truth that we've never been exposed to before.

I guess since retiring 18 years ago, I've had way too much time on my hands to inquire of answers to what others believe are Life's most important questions to be answered.

There certainly isn't a shortage of opinions...

When surfing through various topics addressed in various Forums ranging from those who use the crudest language to express themselves, to those who are so suffisticatingly precise in their facts and language that I feel as though it's the computer itself that generated the discussion, that sometimes I feel like one of those headless chickens.

But then occasionally, tucked somewhere in the middle, lie the comments from an individual that is rarely responded to by the swarm of buzzing Bees who each have opposing thoughts hardened in the concrete of Gray Matter.

It all reminds me of watching the "Beverly Hill Billy's" when growing up.

It's the "JED CLAMPETS" of the World, sitting quietly on the front pourch of Life and enjoying it's fruits it has to offer, who are Truly Smart enough to realize there really IS... "NO NEW THING UNDER THE SUN".

This senerio has been played out in life since the begining of time, over & over again. The circumstances vary a little each time it repeats itself, yet it CONSISTENTLY bears the same results.

People become SOOO Intillectually & Technologically smart, we become the Milburn Drysdales of the World who really haven't got much of a clue.

While Milburn runs around in confused circles, thinking he has come up with the solutions to meet the needs of his #1 Client...There's Good OL' Jed...Just sittin there on the pourch as content with Life as a Man Can & Should Be.

Recently over the past few years, I've become interested in knowing about the Dead Sea Scrolls and what they are all about.

From the looks of finding an answer to that on Line or in the Library, it's clear that Mr. Drysdale has been placed in charge of coming up with the answers to "THIS ONE" too.

If it wasn't bad enough that so many conflicting opinions arrise when even discussing the SIMPLEST of Topics, WHAT IN THE WORLD was God thinking when He inspired some Guy to write of some of the most profound and important Documents to be unearthed in our time, and not mention ONE PERSON contained in them by name ???

If you thought Biblical oppinions in General generate a plethora of varying opinion on Scripture that has been available for thousands of years, which buy the way, are opinions which should have been resolved by now, given the amount of time they have been debated, is DWARFED by the confusion of opinion on these MORE RECENT MESSAGES from God.

Seems like God may be a Big Fan of watching the Beverly Hill Billies Himself.

I can just see Him sitting on the Pourch Step of Heaven and like JED...Wonder what ALL THIS CONFUSION running about Him is ALL ABOUT?

For JED Himself dosen't appear to be confused at ALL...

Maybe, just maybe, God failed to mention a few FACTS such as giving Proper Names to individuals contained in the Scrolls because... "IT's THE FACTS" that people tend to rely on MORE than Good OL Fashion Ispiration and Intuition, that cause us to look WAY BEYOND "THE MARK".

Even when Mr. Drysdale is eventually confronted with the Truth of a given situation, it STILL makes NO SENSE to him.

And for THAT REASON....only Truly Wise Men like JED will ever know the answers as was intended by God to begin with.

For UNWISE Men where never intended to be intrusted with the Secrets of God.

From the perspective of an Old Retired Marine who just sits on the Front Pourch watching the the crowd grow MORE & MORE sure of themselves in their confusion, I'm Greatful for God who placed JED among us to quietly Testify of His OWN Nature and Qualities.

Thank Goodness the answers to Life's most important questions can be found out in the SIMPLEST OF WAYS...Or some of us without "BRAINS", would be hopelessly left Wanting.

As I have scaned through every Topic & Opinion under the Sun, I've come to realize that JED is a Lone Man in Today's World.

There are a Few like him but they are far & few between. And each day it becomes a little tougher to find him sitting on the Front Pourch.

I believe that's because I think He's pretty much seen about ALL he can deal with and has gone INSIDE.

And when there is NOTHING LEFT that Kind, unassuming, & Good Hearted Jed is willing OBSERVE or FORGIVE and He prefers the confines of the inner walls of His Home to that which God created OUTSIDE those walls, I think the World has found itself in DEEP KIMSHEE.

When JED has had enough of "US", then I think...So too has God.

But knowing JED to be the sort of person to NEVER just fade away or Give UP...He's probably just gone inside to find a broom to sweep the accumulated DUST from His Front Pourch that Passers By have kicked up.

After all...It is "JEDS" HOUSE and I can't IMAGINE anyone depriving Him of Sitting on His OWN Front Pourch...

JED ALWAYS Wins in the End...

By the way...JED has been good to me. He is my Neighbor. He comes outside on occasion and speaks with me and I Listen...

He's a Quiet Man with a Smile accsentuated by a Tear. A Man Full of Quiet Emotion & Wisdom. Outspoken at times and nowhere to be found at others. He's the most "REAL" person I've ever met, yet as Mysterious as a Wind that suddenly appears and in a moment has gone.

He seems to apprieciate even things that are quite unpleasant to me, not because he approves of them, but rather for the reason that certain things we experience in this life seem to provide the necessary contrast for us to appreciate that which IS Truly Good.

I've never met a Man who made me feel so Safe & Sure & Comfortable with myself and Life, despite the obvious distractions it presents at times.

With Him, there was not only always light at the end of every dark tunnel, but as He grew older, I could see that the TUNNEL ITSELF began shining within for Him.

He died a few years ago and is now my Neighbor. He is MY DAD. And I think He's a LOT Like God.

I used to spend many Days on Our Front Pourch with Him...And STIll do.

He & God and Jed, have a LOT in Common...

Amid the chaos...LIFE
questions...so many questions, all shouted at once
answers are rare like butterflies in a high wind
but its not about the answers, is it
its about the chaos and the questions
the yammering, yapping, chirping, barking, pounding, ear numbing, brain liquefying noise
why else would a few build the high towers, climb up and achieve the grand view
how else would a few finally begin to understand the simple truth, the true meaning of peace
and love
and kindness
and hope

god shines down on everything
and you can only truly know that by finding peace

peace can only come from chaos
that is the human flaw.

In fact I don't
I allude to your porch in the image of the tower
the tower rises over the babble of 'headless chickens' so that the person on the porch/tower can see clearly that the solution to it all is simple

the only reason to build towers or seek porches is to escape the chaos of those babbling headless chickens

thus, the path to solution is born out of chaos

but as usual I have my head up a virtual ___
:::snort:::

thanks

Concerning headless chickens, I very much feel the truth you convey about all the noise generated by the plethora of comments from others who use these and other forums as podiums to harangue each other. I hesitated to open up to this question thinking it a silly question. But as I read your post I realized a deeper meaning was being portrayed. The real meaning in life cannot be relegated to understanding analytic philosophies or quantum mechanics. That kind of a world would leave most of us out in the cold where the truth is exclusive to some and meaningless to most. Can we rely on our own reasoning or understanding to find real meaning in life? Or is true meaning hidden away in some cave where dusty manuscripts awaits our discovery? And once they are found can we then glean the hidden truths of life’s real meaning from them? Is that the kind of universe we live in? It seems to me that finding meaning is finding truth. I can stand back and look at the cosmos which is so vast and consider it. It is so much bigger than me yet it lacks the ability to do what I can do. I can take it all in an wonder about it. It however, cannot and is therefore smaller than me. You see we are here for a reason. I think that is the question you are getting at. The metaphysical questions verses the cold hard facts of verifying everything through our physical senses. I look inward and I ask age of questions. Why am I here? Who am I? Is there a reason for my existence? Or is life a mere compilation of chemical and biological processes and so we probe for meaning within the context of futility. There is no real truth there is only our pathetic groping for something we will never be able to understand. Boy this is a terrible thing to conceive of! No wonder why people commit suicide. No wonder why people become complacent and indifferent. No wonder why we are estranged from one another. I could go on and on wondering! Or I can come to grips with my reason for being. Is it so hard to believe that God exists? Is it so hard to understand the simple message of Salvation? Is it so hard to believe that old story that a Savior came from glory? Even a child can understand this! We were made a little lower than the angels the bible says but we were endowed with the image of our maker. That image is what gives us meaning. Its the only real meaning that has no strings attached. Its not hidden away in a cave or in some complicated mathematical equation. It is simply this: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes on him should have everlasting life". So the noise is drowned out by the silence of that still small voice calling out to us as he did to the prophet in (1 Kings 19:12). God asked, “What are you doing here, Elijah? God is calling to us today with the same question. What are we doing here? "TODAY, IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS". -- Hebrews 3:15.

Nissar,

thank you. I am a writer. being told my skill "rocketh" is high praise indeed.
thank you

Mike,

still your Self. stop listening to those who are telling you there are no answers. They are liars or simply have no understanding.

these 'headless chickens' are loud and overwhelming to the peace of your soul.

I will tell you the purpose of life. It is simple and profoundly beautiful.

Your purpose is to love.

everything else is distraction. everything else is noise.

I'm not sure I understand a lot of what is being said,,,
But peace does not have to come from choas ...you are only at peace when you truly believe in the lord.
My husband and I lived outside the big city of Vancouver Canada...
Everything always seemed to be rush rush rush...yea confusion...
But my husband is a electrial designer..for large boats all over the world.
But his knees got to bad for crawling around in the engine rooms of some of these boats...and yes he got a little older...and creekie.
So one day we packed up our belongs and moved to gods country...a little town about 4 hundred miles away from the coast ,away from confusion.
And we found that fromt porch and the peace And we also found a place
where god could feel at home with his flock...and not feel rushed.
My husband still designs...but he has his computer...and he doesn't have to leave the comfort of his living room,
He's semi retired...so when someone needs a design a check comes in the mail...and I call that peace. And the lord is always a part of our home, whether it be in giving to others in need ...or sharing a meal with a friend...Blessing from...B.C.
