If there is other life on planets and their a threat to our very own planet what would we do i mean for all we khow they could be more advanced than us so what would the government do if an invasion happened

If they were aware of us and advanced enough to come here, then they would be more worried that we would become as advanced as they and most likely hopeing that we never find them. So don't worry overly much because the type of tech that would allow them to come here would also allow them to wipe us out before we knew it. As for resources there is plenty of those in space, so no reason to come here to get it.
