In terms of the chaos theory small events affect an event in the long run... what would happen if it were possible to manipulate these smaller events to create a specific outcome in the long run? i know that takes the chaos out of it, but would that be possible and if it were then what would happen?

I am not sure that small things will effect large things in the long run, because the fact that you travel back in time means you have already done so, so there is no reason to go back in time in the first place. So it may very well be impossible to go back in time with the purpose of changing things. Just like it would be impossible to kill yourself in the past.
