Is the God of Islam and the God of Christianity the same God?

There are identifying similarities in the historical characters in both religions.
Yet how did these two become so apart? Why do some muslims hate Christnaity with such ferocity? I am not saying Christians are blameless, they have had their share in bloodshed such as in the Crusades, inquisition, etc. There are always those extremists who cause trouble, but they are only a handful among the thousands who are mild and understanding.
Why can't this war between religions stop once and for all? People are attacking religion now, to be the cause of war and bloodshed, when I think it is the people themselves who are at fault.

Yes, but the biggest difference is that the Christians believe Jesus is God. The disciples referred to him as the Prophet until he resurrected, and even before that, they admit that Jesus is the "Son of God."

But that's not my point.
If we are under the same God, why do they fight against each other? Why do they call each other "infidels" and wage war in the name of it? Right now, the Muslims are the ones who are waging this war. I don't think God wants his people to fight against each other in His name.

Hi Charlie 18!

First of all, those Christians who say Jesus is the Son(Begotten) of God ...are not under the 'same' God.

The God of Abrahim, David ,Moses , 'Real Jesus' and Muhammad, doesn't have a Son.

(.. have been giving references to show what Son, Father, Spirit should mean in other discussions.)

Allah showed a SIGN by creating Jesus , just like Adam..and He is the Creator Almighty...whose religion was Islam just like other Prophets of Allah, but Christians exaggeratd..

So those Christains are PAGANS..

.............

Second of All, Islam is about Peace and Security of each person, family , community and the whole world, inturn..since this world has been created by the Creator.

And,,,Islam believes in PREVENTION...to be better than a CURE..

Punishments comes after when we IGNORE the COMMANDS/LAW/WARNINGS of God.

What is happenning or have been happening on Earth is just because Humans, without exception, are stubborn transgressor and they prefer this world over the hereafter!

3:117 The likeness of what they spend in the life of this world is as the likeness of wind in which is intense cold (that) smites the seed produce of a people who haw done injustice to their souls and destroys it; and Allah is not unjust to them, but they are unjust to themselves

We are 'proud'

28:39 And he was unjustly proud in the land, he and his hosts, and they deemed that they would not be brought back to Us.

And Allah doesn't like it...

31:18`And turn not thy cheek away from men in scorn, nor walk in the earth haughtily; Surely, ALLAH loves not the arrogant boaster;

31:19 And walk thou at a moderate pace, and lower thy voice; verily, the most hateful of voices is the braying of the ass.'

but who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

..the 'hollow' will always make more 'noise'....

Hi Charlie

God and Allah are not the same thing. I came to this thread because I thought they were and I thought Muslims were like Christians.
I was wrong.

Muslims fear their god.
Christians do not,(although some Choose to be afraid of God, those people live without understanding God, they don't have to be afraid and God forgives them their fear and takes it away, in the end)

Allah is a jealous god; he cannot be teased or laughed at, he cannot be denied, he cannot allow people that do not believe in him to exist...anyone who doesn't believe in Allah is to be put to death
God is not jealous at all; in fact, He is so UN jealous that he forgave us all our sins even before we committed them; God is often teased and laughed at, He is often denied, people who don't believe in God are often told; hey, that's okay, HE believes in you.
even if you never believe in God in your whole life, deny Him up until the moment of your death, all you have to do is turn your heart at the last instant to Him and, you are forgiven and raised alongside the holiest of holy men...for all are equal in the eyes of the Lord

God has a sense of humor and generosity
Allah is offended by cartoons among many other things

God has been called Love
Allah has 99 names....none of them mean love

God has told us that murder is evil, that suicide is evil, that people who do these things are NOT following God's law, yet He forgives even the worst murderers, the most selfish of suicides
Allah tells his people that murder and suicide can be justified in his name and that those who do these things in his name will be rewarded by him

finally;
the easiest way to understand God is to understand that you are forgiven and loved just as you stand or sit at this moment. Nothing else is required of you. God wants you to choose to come to Him. He has given us His Laws but, even if we break them, we are forgiven. If you choose to live without God then you must carry your own burdens of pain, grief, suffering, loneliness etc. but, if you choose to turn to God, He will carry all of those burdens without even being asked and He will extract no price for this carrying, it is simply His Way.

Allah requires much of his followers. they must obey rules and follow proscriptions, make homage, they must even pray five times every day
Allah doesn't demand his people be free to choose between good and evil. Allah says...this is evil, if you choose it, you will be punished (you might even be killed for the smallest of transgressions depending on how afraid of Allah's wrath the punishers are).
Allah says anyone who chooses anything but me and my ways must die or be punished harshly
and those who follow Allah fear this punishment, this wrath.

God and Allah are not the same things. What they are, I leave up to you.

This is my last post on this thread. I was sent here to learn something. I thank you all for teaching me. I thank God for His wisdom and mystery.
May God shine for you always.

So here you are with your "Mission Impossible", 'Dawn'...

*You said Allah is not God and God is not Allah,..so if we call Jesus by his 'real name', Yasu or Isa...then you'll say..."Who is he"......haha

* Your God created YOU in HIS IMAGE...I agree...and... you never tried to look at yourself..what a pity!!!!!!!!

*If you prefer an easy-going life with your Father God, who is just watching you 'play'...then why 'ethics'...why 'morality'....??????

'feel free'

*If all the Messengers and the Messages they brought...don't 'mean' anything..then your God is really DUMB....how does He talk to you...I wonder!

*Your God certainly has a 'sense of humour', I agree,..He is laughing at Christians for 2 milleniums for worshipping his SON...

He laughs a lot , everyday , when He sees HOMOS...

'Revise' your stuff before you 'preach'....'Dawn'!

..................................

..and aha..you definitely believe in one (out 0f 99)atribute of Allah for sure.."Most-Forgiving"...and that's what you want to take advantage of....and you know this very well...I mean 'how to'...

4:171 O people of the scripture, do not transgress the limits of your religion, and do not say about GOD except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was a messenger of GOD, and His word that He had sent to Mary, and a revelation from Him. Therefore, you shall believe in GOD and His messengers. You shall not say, "Trinity." You shall refrain from this for your own good. GOD is only one god. Be He glorified; He is much too glorious to have a son. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. GOD suffices as Lord and Master.

4:172 The Messiah would never disdain from being a servant of GOD, nor would the closest angels. Those who disdain from worshiping Him, and are too arrogant to submit, He will summon them all before Him.

4:173 As for those who believe and lead a righteous life, He will fully recompense them, and shower them with His grace. As for those who disdain and turn arrogant, He will commit them to painful retribution. They will find no lord beside GOD, nor a savior.

4:174 O people, a proof has come to you from your Lord; we have sent down to you a profound beacon.

4:175 Those who believe in GOD, and hold fast to Him, He will admit them into mercy from Him, and grace, and will guide them to Him in a straight path.

THE MESSIAH AND THE GOD:

[3:45] The angels said, "O Mary, GOD gives you good news: a Word from Him whose name is `The Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary. He will be prominent in this life and in the Hereafter, and one of those closest to Me.'

[4:172] The Messiah would never disdain from being a servant of GOD, nor would the closest angels. Those who disdain from worshiping Him, and are too arrogant to submit, He will summon them all before Him.

[5:17] Pagans indeed are those who say that GOD is the Messiah, the son of Mary. Say, "Who could oppose GOD if He willed to annihilate the Messiah, son of Mary, and his mother, and everyone on earth?" To GOD belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them. He creates whatever He wills. GOD is Omnipotent.

[5:72] Pagans indeed are those who say that GOD is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah himself said, "O Children of Israel, you shall worship GOD; my Lord and your Lord." Anyone who sets up any idol beside GOD, GOD has forbidden Paradise for him, and his destiny is Hell. The wicked have no helpers.

[5:75] The Messiah, son of Mary, is no more than a messenger like the messengers before him, and his mother was a saint. Both of them used to eat the food. Note how we explain the revelations for them, and note how they still deviate!

[9:31] They have set up their religious leaders and scholars as lords, instead of GOD. Others deified the Messiah, son of Mary. They were all commanded to worship only one GOD. There is no GOD except He. Be He glorified, high above having any partners.
