4) If Co2 is responsible for the global temperature rises over the past 100 years, would it not be possible to show, without a doubt, cause and effect? In other words, would data not show that the earth's temperature rises following the increase of Co2? Scientific fact, not consensus, proves the exact opposite. Carbon Dioxide levels have risen "following" a global temperature rise. Before anyone one supports the "consensus" of man-caused global warming, should he not ask, factually, how could the "cause" follow the "effect"?

There are MULTIPLE factors involved in Global Warming, not just CO2. Sunspots, Volcanoes (particulate matter in the atmosphere) melting permafrost etc etc etc. Many of these factors are working in direct opposition to each other. For instance, the massive melting of the Greenland icecap ( & it IS MASSIVE) could easily disrupt the Gulf Stream (Ocean Current) which currently gives Britain & Northern Europe the moderate climate that belies it's Northern latitude, thus plunging Europe into a much colder climate than it currently enjoys ....... all this despite "Global Warming".
It is predicted that we are entering a period of greatly reduced Sunspot activity which could reduce Global Warming. So we continue to blithely pump CO2 into the atmosphere thinking it doesn't matter ? What happens then when sunspots return to their more normal frequency & intensity ?

Personally, I believe in the "Precautionary Principle". Does it really make sense to pump billions & billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere just because we're too lazy, too thoughtless & too greedy to make the changes that just MIGHT save our children & grandchildren from a future that will make the "Dark Ages" look like a picnic ?

Ask the Californians & Australians what they think as they burn up. (Arnie is on record as saying there is no such thing as "Forest Fire Season" any more, ANY TIME is forest fire time !) The "Bread Baskets" of the world are turning into deserts. Dried up wheat fields & a million dead cattle in Argentina. The "Snows of Kilimanjaro" to be gone by 2020, the mountain glaciers that feed the great rivers of the world all summer retreating at least 7% per year.

I recommend that anyone who has kids or cares about other peoples' kids should just give their heads a shake and say "who gives a poop what's causing the problem - the problem is OBVIOUS, the problem is HUGE & do we really want to be responsible for what is to follow ? Exactly how silly is it to try and live in some kind of balance - especially as we now KNOW IT CAN BE DONE ?" Willfully polluting an extremely finite planet as if we have no responsibility for future generations strikes me as hubris ... arrogance of the most egregious kind !

I'm 59, none of this will make any difference to me. My kids are 20 & 17 ......... it's going to make a HUGE difference to them & God help any kids that they have !

When 6 BILLION people all say it doesn't make any difference how I live then we have a HUUUUUGE problem !

(D)elimentary,
First let me say that I admire your conviction as, and I say this with all due respect, hypocritical as it appears.
If I believed that I was causing the future demise of my planet and therefore presented a danger to my children, I would cease to contribute to such an outcome. You, clearly have not done that. You think the advancement of the world wide standard of living is greedy, yet you continue to drive cars, heat your house and run your PC, among many other carbon producing activities.
Your response was typical to many I have received over the past years. High on fear mongering rhetoric with zero fact based proof that man is causing global warming. If you have some proof, spare me the dire predictions and show me a small piece. My mind can be changed. But I need proof, not emotional predictions.
No one can dispute that the earth has no normal temperature. The global temperature has been changing for hundreds of million years. The question should not be is it happening, but are we doing it? Proof required.
Please re-read these items and address the contradictions they propose to the man made global warming theory.

Despite all the Co2 emissions from manufacturing and breathing that man puts into the atmosphere each year, it is a scientific and provable fact that it represents only 3% of the total Co2, As of the last readings, it is scientific fact that Co2 is 0.0047% of our atmosphere. So, it is mathematical fact that man is responsible for about 0.000141% of the Co2. That means that if half of the earth's population were gone, half the cars, planes, trains and trucks removed, and half of all factories, power plants, homes and businesses were shut down, it is mathematical fact, that man produced carbon emissions would decrease by only 0.0007%. What fool would support such a destructive undertaking for so little effect?

If Co2 is responsible for the global temperature rises over the past 100 years, would it not be possible to show, without a doubt, cause and effect? In other words, would data not show that the earth's temperature rises following the increase of Co2? Scientific fact, not consensus, proves the exact opposite. I have come to the conclusion that we all have a little blame global warming and its consequences and guilt even more politicians who do not slow down.
