Geothermal energy tends to be only a low-grade heat source, making cogeneration of industrial heat plus electricity a better use for equipment. Improvements in fracking technology will help geothermal power use greatly.
The relatively low melting point of uranium fuel, versus uranium oxide or hafnium also limits nuclear reactor technology. Hafnium or carbon cladding strong enough to keep molten uranium fuel intact during a disaster, would help this industry greatly. Hafnium is a nuclear waste product and a platinum group metal. Platinum group metals have very high melting points that electroplate nicely, so a fire pit is not required for fabrication. The high melting point of yellow cake and plutonium oxide, would be physically mixed with molten beryllium or uranium for fuel rod preparation.
