What's your favourite Shakespeare play and why?

Personally, I love Hamlet. I think the characterisation in it is brilliant and that the characters are so in-depth. They aren't just one thing, they are many things; Claudius in particular. Not only is he an amoral and evil man, he does have the redeeming quality of his love for Gertrude.

I love Romeo and Juliet. Its the perfect love story and tragetiy. I love it I mean there so naive, but so in love. It shows you how hard love is and how real it. They are young to so it shows all the older generation that youg people do now what love is even at a young age. What Romeo and Juliet had was love i don't care what anyone says. Any way my favorit part of the play was what the prince said at the end.
"A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo."
Depressing but i love it.

I agree with that...its a brilliant master piece...they portray the most innocent love of all..the modern adaptation of the play with Leonardo D' Caprio was very fascinating..

Yes, Hamlet is genius because it is the interpretation of the actors and director that makes it work. The best I ever saw was Branaugh's who used the play within the play that was magic. I never like Heston's acting until I saw this production. Even when an actor hams up the possibility that Hamlet is totally insane, it still fits. It takes a youthful actor to explain the various moods within Hamlet and Ophelia. I have Branaugh's DVD as a treasure among my library.

Being a opera buff, I have many of the operas based on Shakespeare's plays.

I raised 2 daughters who were in and out of love almost weekly. Romeo and Juliet actually opened my mind as to the hearts and actions of my own girls. It was a play we saw many times and I was hoping they would get something out of it. The whole family is Shakespeare crazy and we spent hours in discussion over his dialog.

I never costumed this play but did a fitting for a production at the Pilgrimage Theater in Hollywood.
