ENRC, based in London, operates a number of metals assets in Kazakhstan and Africa, having acquired numerous mining operations in Eastern Europe
and Africa
. In 2009, ENRC generated a $1,462 million profit on sales of $3.8 billion.
ENRC was floated on the London Stock Exchange
in December 2007, with a market capitalisation on Admission of approximately £6.8 billion.
Mashkevich currently serves as President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) one of the five regional branches of World Jewish Congress (WJC)
. In this capacity, he has visited a number of synagogue

Alexander Mashkevitch was involved in a sex scandal that took place on a Turkish yacht that originally belonged to Kemal Ataturk.
Mashkevitch and few other business men rented the yacht from Mr. who charged them $50,000 per day for using the vessel.
Turkish authorities seized the yacht after allegations of a sex party and under age prostitution on board the vessel.
Ten people on board were arrested, including two women. Alexander Mashkevitch's spokesman said that Mashkevitch was not one of those who was arrested, but he was on board when the vessel was seized by Turkish authorities. New information shows that Mashkevitch was arrested during the sex party.
