Jaguar XE is the anticipated name of a future Jaguar two-seat roadster, based on a shortened platform of the XK convertible, that is expected to enter production by 2013. A similarly sized concept car named C-X16
is scheduled to be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011.

The car is expected to be launched initially as a convertible, with a coupé following. A plug-in version may become the company’s first hybrid-electric vehicle. Petrol and diesel models have been spotted in testing, and are expected to feature V6 engines.

Also in the drive train is a 95 bhp electric motor, which can power the vehicle on its own up to 50 miles per hour (22.4 m/s), using a 1.6Kwh battery charged through brake regeneration. The engine bay is big enough to accommodate Jaguars petrol V8 or 3.0 Litre diesel engines.
