The school is run by "The Julien Educational Trust", a private organisation of reputed people of the Anglo-Indian community, has successfully established and is running four branches of the school at Kolkata, Ganganagar, Kalyani and Howrah.The school was founded by Late Mrs. Grace Julien, an eminent teacher of her time, and governed by the Board of Trustees of the Julien Educational Trust. The Julien Day School at Kolkata was established in 1969, Ganganagar in 1976 and Kalyani
in 1988 are all affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations with I.C.S.E. at the class X level and I.S.C. at the class XII level comprising three streams of Science,
Commerce and Humanities. The Howrah Branch was established in 2007 will also seek affiliation to the Council as the other three branches. Earlier there was a branch in Townsend Road, but it got split from the main school and was rechristened as 'Julian Day School' in the 1990s amidst much controversy.
The school anthem is 'Julien Day School's children are we' set to the tune of the national anthem of Germany. The badge of the school bears a quote of Sir Francis Bacon 'Knowledge is power'.
