 in 1999 and started his teaching career in 2000. He left the teaching profession in 2003 and completed an Advanced Diploma in Film Production (Directing) in Ngee Ann Polytechnic under the Media Education Scheme Award supported by the Media Development Authority (MDA).

Even when he was a full-fledged teacher and Head of Department from 2000 to 2003, Kelvin's passion in filmmaking propelled him to script, produce, and direct five short films which were all officially selected for screenings at film festivals and arts events such as the Singapore Shorts Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival

From July 2003 to March 2004, Kelvin was also the official videographer for the Poetry Slam Cabaret, held on the last Tuesday of every month at Zouk, Velvet Underground. He documented the monthly event and shot exclusive footages of Marc Smith (widely known as "The Father of Poetry Slam") of Chicago that went on to become part of the poetry slam documentary aired on Arts Central TV in March 2004.

Besides filmmaking, Kelvin has also been writing poetry for the last 6 years and has since written more than a hundred poems. His works are featured in several poetry websites and he hopes to publish his own book of poetry in the near future. He has collaborated with Little Bali, Gone Fishing Café and The Substation to organize poetry readings which invited both published and unpublished writers to read their works together.
