Kuala Lumpur FA season 1993
Encyclopedia
S. Subramaniam returned for his second stint as coach of Kuala Lumpur
in place of Chow Kwai Lam
.
Following an exodus of players at the end of the 1992 season, KL relied on a handful of experienced players besides promoting several from the youth squad.
KL impressed at the start of the season by winning the Malaysian FA Cup for the first time, beating Sabah
2-1 in the final at the Merdeka Stadium.
The optimism generated by the Cup win, however, did not filter through to the league campaign where KL finished ninth of 10 teams in the Semi-Pro Division One.
Theoretically relegated, KL earned a reprieve when the Football Association of Malaysia
restructured the domestic league into a full-fledged single division professional league for the 1994 season.
