Reviews

Enron is a bitter but highly entertaining fable for our times. It is only Lucy Prebble’s second play, but already she has outstripped a great predecessor. Ben Jonson’s greatest theatrical creations are urban comedies which show predatory usurers, “projectors” and clever young men on the make taking ingenious advantage of a crowd of foolishly naïve, and equally greedy, gulls. But even the cynical Jonson knew that social convention required him to close his comedies with conviviality, on stage and off.
