The most famous brand of Marillenschnaps is produced by the Austrian company Bailoni, which was founded in 1872 in the Austrian town of Krems an der Donau. Many small orchards produce excellent homemade varieties of Marillenschnaps as well.

Marillenschnaps should be clear with a strong apricot aroma. The alcohol content should be close to 40%. One hundred kilograms of ripe apricots should produce approximately eight liters of Marillenschnaps.
