The Leicester Owls Athletics Club is one of the three leading athletics teams in Leicestershire
, UK. It has gained many regional and national accolades as well as some athletes representing internationally while they were members of the club. The club are currently 24-time defending Men's Leicestershire County Cross Country Champions.
The club began as Oadby and Wigston Legionnaires (acronym OWLS) at the Royal British Legion in South Wigston
. The club then split into two clubs with the Legion (Wigston) Branch becoming a social running club and the Leicester branch becoming a competitive club. There was a complete split in 2008 when the Legion became "Wigston Phoenix" running club, and the Leicester Branch adopted the name Leicester Owls Athletics Club.
