Oropi

Oropi is a rural
district located in the Bay of Plenty
region of the North Island
of New Zealand
. It is located between Greerton on the outskirts of the city of Tauranga
and Rotorua
. The main hubs of the district are the Waimapu Garage Petrol Station, the Oropi Community HallOropi Hall and also the Oropi Primary School which has a roll of 160 pupils (2006) and takes children of years 1-8 (age 5-12). It is widely a farming community of both agriculture and horticulture ranging from Kiwifruit
orchards to Dairy farms. Many of the farms have been subdivided into housing to take advantage of the stunning views of the coastline up towards the Coromandel Peninsula
and the surrounding islands Karewa, Mayor and Motiti. The district has many entertainment facilities such as a golf
course, hot pools, a paintball
course and mountbike tracks.
Oropi is also home to a natural reserve called 'Waithangi Wainuku reserve where some of Oropi's biggest trees are situated.
