The F Major sonata was written in two parts -- hence, the two Köchel numbers. The Rondeau finale was originally written as a separate piece as K. 494. A few months later, the first two movements were written. At his publisher Hoffmeister's request, he joined K. 494 to them to form a three-movement sonata, referred to as K. 533, adding a twenty-seven measure cadenza
to the Rondo making use of lower registers of the piano not heard in the rest of the movement.
