Rasayani is located on SH-83, about five kilometeres off NH4. Rasayani is composed of a cluster of villages namely Ambivali, Dapivali, Mohopada, Chambarli, Vaveghar, Rees, Karade, Gulsunde, Turade, Savle. Apparently, the name Rasayani was originally coined by the noted Marathi writer P.L. Deshpande. There are many chemical manufacturing and processing companies located here. The word "Rasayan - रसायन" in devnagri script means Chemical and India's firest Chemicals industry "Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd." was established here in 1960's, hence he decided to name the place "Rasayani". It derives its name mainly from chemical industry HOCL. As of today the biggest player remaining is Reliance, which has a petrochemicals and fibre plant in the area.
The ancient river of Patalganga

 and small streams flow through the area.
It is said that the Patalganga riven finds mention in ancient vedic texts and the temples in Turade-Karade area and its banks were considered holy places and a Dip in the river considered pious to mention the least. The annual fair during Maha Shiv-Ratri at Gulsunda is a survivor of this ancient tradition.

The area is surrounded by Prabal (HOCL Management Trainee Hostel), Irshala, Karnala (A small Housing For new/fresh Officers of HOCL) and other hills-mountains of Sahyadri ranges.

Raseshwar Temple: Ancient temple of Lord Shiva, Rasayani is named after Raseshwar.

HOCL Guest house: HOCL guest house in Ambivali village is located near HOCL Hospital.

Patalganga Dam: Located next to Ganajan Maharaj Temple(in HOC Colony)

Morbe Dam: One of the largest damns owned by NMMC (Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation)

Manik fort: Located behind Rasayani Industrial Area

MIDC Hill: Located on the H.I.L. Industrial area

Karnala Fort: this covers Rasayani from west side

Apta Railway Station: A popular hotspot for bollywood movies including Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Khaki.

Chavane Dam: Located near Apta Railway Station

Education

There are quite a few good institutes of education (Both primary and secondary) in and around Rasayani. Pillai Education society is setting up a new education campus with the help of HOCL (all land is of HOCL), which is expected will provide better education opportunities to the student in the near future.

Administration of HOC school has been given to Pillai Institutes and is in the process of constructing an institute for higher education also.

Transport

Infrastructure

Most of the infrastructure in Rasayani is maintained by the Gram Panchayat, which include paving the roads, provision of water supply and other essential serives like garbage disposal and beautification.

Highway road maintenance is outsourced to private firms, who are allowed to collect toll to recover the cost of maintenance. Other minor roads are maintained by Gram Panchayat.

Electricity is provided by state run MSEB.

Telecom serives are handled by the state run BSNL telecom and other private players. Broadband is provided by BSNL, and wireless internet serives like GPRS are provided by all private mobile operators
