Empress Thuận Thiên born in Văn Xá, Hương Trà
, Thừa Thiên; full name Trần Thị Đang was a wife of Emperor Gia Long
of Vietnam and mother of Emperor Minh Mạng
. She was a daughter of Vice Minister of Public Works Trần Hưng Đạt and became wife of Nguyễn Phúc Ánh during the time he was fighting Tây Sơn. She had three son with the Emperor: the first one is Nguyễn Phúc Đảm (later emperor Ming Mang
), and others were Nguyễn Phúc Đài and Nguyễn Phúc Chẩn. She died in 1846, at the age of 79, buried with Gia Long in Thien Tho Tomb. She received the title of Empress posthumously.
