Career
Tomita was an organizer of the Bank of Japan. He was its first Vice Governor; and he was head of the bank from from February 21, 1888 through September 3, 1889.In 1897, Tomita organized the Yokohama Fire Insurance Company, later known as Yokohama Fire, Marine, Transit & Fidelity Insurance; and he was its president.
