History

The word vesyoloye in Russian means "cheerful", and the village was named this way due to its beautiful and "cheerful-looking" localities. Vesyoloye is famous for its Research Institute of Medical Primatology, established in 1927. The village is also known for having the cheapest fruit market where goods can be obtained from Abkhazia.
