Throughout the history of sports, there have been many tragedies.

One of the boxing tragedy of tragedies was the death of members
of the 1980 USA Boxing team were killed when the airplane
crashed in Poland. Over 20 boxers, coaches and officials were killed

Other tragedies include ring related deaths such as
Benny Kid Paret, Davey Moore and Johnny Owen.
The Benny Kid Paret tragedy was revisited in 2005
with the film documentary:
"Ring Of Fire The Emile Griffith Story" by Dan Klores and
Ron Berger.

Other trahgedies have happened in car crashes and plane crashes.
Famous fighters lost in crashes include:
Rocky Marciano, Marcel Cerdan, Jack Johnson and Dave Sands.

On the dark and seedy side of life some fighters and ex-fighters
have been murdered: Famous examples include:
Stanley Ketchel, Battling Siki, Al (Bummy) Davis, and
Wallace (Bud) Smith.
