The Big Bang theory is kind of scary because it says that the universe is endlessly expanding and one day will stretch so far that it can no longer support life!

Yes but you will no longer exist at that point nor will any of your successors who will likely remember you. So do you fear for the fate of the human race in the distant future? I'm trying to put your fears to rest but I don't understand them well enough to do so.
