I used to live in Panguna Bougainville my dad was the forman of the copper mine we left in 1975 when the riots happened im looking for anyone that used to live there or went to school there or anything.I find it remarkable how there are no roads there anymore etc...

I have just returned from panguna. I was staying a stones throw distance from the mine. I spent two months there. There are still roads but they are all failing rapidly. Curently the airport in Arawa is still closed so we are having to fly into Buka and take the four hour drive and that road is pretty rough. Its not a pleasant drive to say the least LOL. If you have any questions about the current conditions I will be more then happy to answer to the best of my ability.

Hi,Thankyou s much for your reply.I used to go to the local primary school in Panguna and went to the swimming pool on Saturdays.The Pub on Wednesday night for a movie,as there was no t.v.s.If your there again i would love to see photos .We used to stay at Lolaho Beach.The locals would come around with Carvings and shell necklaces,apart from freash veges and fruit.There where coconut trees and pinapple trees and heaps of banana trees.Thankyou again for taking the time to answer me.
