Happy New Year to one & all...
I wonder if somebody out there could help me...
Just before Christmas I was at Waterloo, whilst there I visited the Duke of Wellington's HQ / Museum, where I purchased three French military buttons.
One was to the 22nd line, another to the 75th & the third I was led to believe was to the Sappers/Engineers.
It is this button that I am trying to find some information on.
It has a body/torso as its centre-piece with a hat & at the bottom there are two crossed axes with the numeral 2 in the middle.
It is about 10-12mm in diameter & looks to be of a copper base.
I can find no reference site that shows this at all on the internet as well as no other buttons for sale that are like this.
Can you help???
