Can anyone tell me the years for the typ2 or transporter gear-hub axle reduction gear boxes, the differnce and production years of the smaller 36mm axle nut and the 42mm nut (i think these are the sizes?)I have dune buggy with a type 1 1963 pan and front axle, and the back is a bus swing axle gear-hub axle reduction box with the wide 5 rim pattern, i am just trying to identify what it is. the motor has been replace with a crankcase that was a VW replacement part number, of course it's modified. i think my axle nut is a 36mm outside measurement. can the earlier gear-hub axle reduction be replaced by the later one etc.?
