My uncle had rank of Major as WW II approached it's end.
He was at a city along the Meuse that was a capital city.
This city had 17 bridges over the Meuse and they were about
a mile apart.
At this tiem the Germans were trying to blow up the bridges
and thus reason to guard them. My uncle is currently 96
years old and does not recall the exact location he was at;
all he recalls is that it was a capital city and there were
17 bridges there that needed to be kept open for Allied
use. Does anyone know the location of these 17 bridges and
the capital city he refers to?
