Hi there,

Mud Dauber (or Dirt Dauber) bees are rarely aggressive, and usually only sting if they are provoked, such as a child trying to capture them, or their nest being disrupted or destroyed. It's sad to hear people who want to get rid of them because they hunt and kill black widow and brown recluse spiders, which are 1 million times more deadly and harmful than the worst sting a mud dauber could give you. An ancient remedy I learned from my dad who learned from his aunt who learned from her ancestors is the use of the mud once a mud dauber is finished with it's use for the season. The larvae in the mud has pain releiving qualities and anti-inflamatory properties, and I have successfully made poultices of the mud with vinegar and mustard seed that has cured carpal tunnel and tendonitis. For centuries bees have been producing health and wellness products that we all still use today. For example, royal jelly, bee pollen and bees wax. Hope this info helps.
