Did the Argentinean Armed Forces have another option in dealing with the Monteneros and ERP terrorists? It has recently come to my attention that the previous president of Argentina (Nestor Kirchner) has appointed leftist judges to put on trial even junior ranking officers (at the time). Shouldn't crimes committed during this period not be covered under the laws of war (jus in bello), which shields junior officers from prosecution for acts committed under military or state orders? How come the Kirchner's are not prosecuting the leftist terrorists who were responsible for many crimes (over 13,000 victims according to a newspaper article I read today)? Is it true that many ex-Monteneros are now in positions of high rank in Argentina? Are any of these judges ex-Monteneros? Is it true the film Iluminados por el Fuego (about the Falklands) was either directed or financed by an important Montenero to make the Argentinean offices look bad? What would have happened had the Argentinean Armed Forces not carried out their military coup in 1975?
