Does anyone know about his father?

was john starks father in the merchants company in derry in 1689 and known as major stark?
if so my great great great grandfaher saved his life in the siege of derry and in return was generously granted freehod of land in kilrea in co derry-this is a family legend and it would be good to pin it down to historical reality
