I volunteer for a charity repairing a variety of small appliances. My response would be that neither saw dust or drywall dust does pemanent damage. However, drywall dust will very quickly clog any filter media of the bag or other filters. If the machine is used for drywall dust, it will require a thorough cleaning or replacement of all filter elements.
