Why would Islamics and Mayans use the Christian (Roman) calender?

The Mayans came up with that date from their own calendars and astronomical data. There is no tie to Christianity or Islam.

OK! So if we go by the Roman Calendar we have nothing to worry about a Mayan doomsday prediction!
