Looking for a couple of IP cameras to install in my garage, I don't need anything super fancy, but something with motion detection and or night vision ability would be preferred. thanks!

Hey, have you considered Foscam IP Cameras? I think they are good for beginners, not too expensive, and easy to set up. www.lktown.com sells indoor and outdoor Foscam cameras, and I've yet to find a better deal on a reputable website. I prefer the pan/tilt models, but in your garage you might be able to go with a fixed cam system.
