Imagine a MASS in a deserted / lonely part of space, all the COSMIC rays we know of and some we don't know of will be striking the mass from all diretions. Whether these radiations are particles or waves or a mixture I have no Idea, but they push in on the mass with a pressure. This dark energy or vacuum energy is of the electro magnetic spectrum and appeared with all the other radiations just after the Instantaneous Inflation of the universe.
At that time Gravity was born, there was none before.
So back to our LONELY mass, all the energy /pressure, entering /passing through/ reflecting/diffusing on this mass is equally distributed around the Spherical body , Its matter feels the force as you Imagine it would Gravity.
The body is so far from any other mass that it has no tendency to be moved from its position in space. Now Imagine that another body of matter is placed close by the first, say at two hundred million Kilometers.
Now there exists between them an area of shade from the cosmic energy, A low pressure If you like , and so, and according to the Inverse Square Law there is a push inward .
A differential pressure drop across both "DENSITY X VOLUME" BODIES.
The two masses move towards each other ,giving the Impression of an ATTRACTION(Newton's Apparent Attraction)
I do not know what causes the gravitational pressure but it works in all senarios, apples to earth, planets to sun , stars to stars etc.
It obeys the LAWS OF MOTION and speeds or slows clocks in high or low G.
The volume of the masses is represented to each body by THEIR "DISC" AREAS (PI X RXR, AND THIS ACCOUNTS FOR ANY capture or ATTENUATION OF THE RADIATIONS AT a DISTANCE.
SO the masses, density can change and volume can change and the distance between masses can change. ALL affect the DIFFERENTIAL , AND THEREFORE THE SIZE OF THE FORCE g.
THE RADIATIONS THAT GIVE RISE TO THE FORCES ARE DISTRIBUTED UNIVERSALLY, AND ACT IN ALL DIRECTIONS.
At very small diameters ie. Quantum sizes the photons are basically inefectual at causing a DP, so g is very weak.
Just as it is between very large bodies at astronomically large distances
You can draw these SHADOW, OR ECLIPSE TYPE DIAGRAMS AND PLAY WITH THE LINES OF FORCE AND DO THE NEWTONIAN PHYSICS.
The maths has not changed but the way of UNDERSTANDING GRAVITATION is now much more simple and useful,and seen from a commonsense / natural point of view.
If you are not convinced then try thinking, what is ""pulling"" the apple down? , and then think of the apple in the shadow of the Earth with a push downwards, and NO SIDE FORCE, AS THE HORIZONTAL FORCES are in equalibrium. (Unless the wind is blowing.)
So black Holes in this Cosmos may be able to exist, same, same , but the pre big bang singularity was just that .
With no EXTERNAL force acting on it , as there were no gravity causing radiations , until after the INFLATION.
If all this is true then the "ETHER" is back and it seems to be equating to DARK ENERGY
