Can anyone help? I understand that Temperance House Farm in Wadshelf used to be called Temperance House (A non alcholic drinking establishment). Before that it was called the Hare & Hounds. I am told that the Duke of Devonshire found out that the poachers of his land used to meet at the Hare & Hounds Wadshelf, to plan their poaching activities, so the Duke of Devonshire allegedly bought the Hare & Hounds and renamed it Temperance House?? This was presumably before 1903 - my Grandfather John William Potter was born at Temperance House in 1903. Any info greatly appreciated.
