Please take it from someone that's seen Socialism up close and personal. Socialism does not work!!!!! Progressive Socialist believe that if you are not a part of their party, then you are someone that needs to be stepped on, for example when Nancy Pelosi referred to the Tea Party folks as "Astro-Turf" referring to people that need to be stepped upon. The USSR made it's people pay dearly for not being able to pay their taxes, they would draw and quarter the male members of the family, that means tieing their arms and legs to horses or vehicles and dismembering them by pulling off their arms and legs. if someone spoke against their form of government, that person was locked away and forgotten about until their rotting corpse made the prison dispose of the body.
Socialism will lead to a dictatorship as always, where one man will ultimately decide the fate of a nation. If one believes that socialism is about spreading the wealth to all, then I challenge you to study how many wealthy people there were in the Soviet Union, then tell me it about wealth distribution. Certain people in the Progressive Democratic Party and certain Republican that adhere to the Progressive Policy are more wealthy today than before Obama took office. CAP and TRADE is nothing more than a giant ponsi scheme to take money from hard working American's, people's utility rates will skyrocket under this policy. Universal Health Care is another giant ponsi scheme cooked up by Progressive's to line their own pockets with our money and if it passes, we the people will have no recourse but to pay the money or go to jail.
America is a Republic not a Democracy. Everyone in America that loves our freedoms, should stand and demand all Progressive Socialist get out of our government immediately and that includes Barrack Obama. So in answer to your question, "NO, SOCIALISM HAS NOT WORKED IN THE PASS, AND WILL NOT WORK IN THE FUTURE".

It is about what is best for the people in your country not just yourself... You can not convince me that health care isnt the most important social responsability that needs to be addressed.
You may dislike socialism ( or what you think you know of it) But in Canada we look after our own! The sick are helped, the hungry are feed, and or poverty level is so far diffrent that yours it cannot be compared.
Before you go off on how Socialism hasnt worked in the past do some homework. Norway for one. The Commonweath has brought in good change, Changing the health care situation in the USA would stimulate your economy and put people back to work ( England at the end of world war 2) Dont think it wouldn't help with toutism as well. You might be suprised at the amount of people not willing to travel within your country because of medical care costs.
I pay roughly 35% of my wages to taxes right off. However my net income is still at a place where I can afford to feed and cloth my children and own the home I live in. I can have day care paid for if I need it, I dont pay for perscriptions and If I am sick (hospital sick) my wages are covered. I never have to worry about being feed and I cant remember the last time I saw someone living in a cardboard box. I had one person in the last 5 year ask me for spare change.
You may not think you would see any advantage but I could go on and on...
Why does the US not already have a goverment run Health Care System that is my biggest question?? I think maybe you should take a closer look at the other countries in the world and see what it has done for them.
