Hello,
I need to know more about the local time variations of magnetic distrubances at mid-latitudes. I know that the Sq variations peak just before midday but I also read that the Disturbance Day variations peak at local dawn and have a minimum at dusk. I can't find out how this Disturbance Day variation ties in with any magnetic index or what its cause is supposed to be. I thought that Magnetic storms arrive at any time of the local day, but maybe these disturbance day varitions are substorms that don't require solar outbursts ? Can anyone point me in the direction of more info please ?
Many Thanks,
Graham.
