Austria, the Kingdom of Sardinia, the Kingdom of Naples, Prussia, Spain and the Kingdom of Great Britain formed the First Coalition and went to war against the French Republic in 1793. Napoleon forced Austria to surrender on his terms with the Treaty of Campo Formio.
