The positive long term aspects were the National and State Park systems built by the CCC, and the National infrastructures built by the WPA. The CCC instilled into the young men a similar chain of command to the US Army who ran it. The WWII enlistment relied heavily on the CCC 'boys' who, due to their valuable experience, gained rank quickly.
After the war, they returned to civilian life, to build the USA we take for granted today. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today, still maintain the overwhelming majority of their Irrigation, Flood Control Hydroelectric generating capacity, including the beautiful resulting, recreational waterways economy of the USA.
