Rhodesia the country is already long gone as a form of government. It was a republic in southern Africa. It achieved majority rule and internationally recognized independence in April 1980, after a long armed struggle against the white minority regime that in November 1965 had made a unilateral and unconstitutional declaration of independence in from Great Britain. The new government renamed the country Zimbabwe.
