We have several species of these animals living in our Certified Wildlife Habitat in Florida and watching them procreate I can share these facts: they have internal fertilization and external gestation. The male is smaller than the female and he mounts her for less than fifteen seconds then goes on his way. She prepares a nest just beneath the surface of the ground using litter to hide her clutch of about six eggs. They hatch live and imediatly start to feed on small insects and other lizards.
