Barium hydroxide I believe to be insoluble so a simple preparation is to mix a solution of barium chloride with a slight excess of sodium hydroxide. This will result in a precipitate of barium hydroxide and a solution of sodium chloride in the xs sodium hydroxide.
Filter and wash the precipitate with distilled water and dry in a warm oven.
