I am an Australian author writing about Singapore during the Second World War. Does anyone know of a Major Peter (or Pieter) Van Helmut (or similar surname) who served with the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army.He apparently was of Dutch and Javanese parentage, and the family is said to have own a sugar mill. Major Peter was with the army before the war, and I am advised he was posted to some overseas consulates as a military attache. Major Peter shared a cell in Outram Road prison with a young Australian POW whose story I am presently writing. Peter died of beriberi in the prison, in my hero's arms, and I would like to pay him proper tribute if possible.
