I am very gratified to see my father mentioned in the history of this general my Dad loved and respected so deeply.
I remember many stories my Dad told, and have vivid memories of meeting the general's wife and mother.
I was always told my father's accompaning the general's body back to the states was a first for an enlisted man.
I remember the day the general died. My Dad was walkng the floor downstairs crying and my Mom could not console him, and I was told to stay upstairs in our house in Japan.
What really bothers me, is that when I mention General Walker to any Army service members today, they have no idea who he was!
Hopefully the book "General Walton H. Walker:Forgotten Hero-The Man Who Saved Korea" by Charles M. Province will open the eyes of our grateful Nation 11-11-11
