I have a rather different Winchester M70 Featherweight in 308 Winchester caliber. I believe that the gun was made first year production of after Winchester became USRA? The gun has a long action in 308 calibler, which I thought was kind of odd. It is a vertual tack driver for a 22 inch hunting barrel gun. Could anyone tell me more about this timeframe in Winchester history. I am a shot gun upland game hunter and don't really know much about rifle history.
