I was prescribed Dialtiazem 90mg bd.
Chemist gave me Diltiazem SR 90 mg bd. I was confused and I found that Diltiazem is available on four preparations only i.e. MR, SR, LA and Prolonged Release.
I was advised to take MR 60 mg tds.
After two weeks I was prescribed 90 mg SR bd and the chemist gave me Dilzem SR bd.
After further 2 weeks I was precscribed Diltiazem MR 120 mg bd and Chemist gave me Tildiem LA Prolonged Release BD.
I am amazed to find so many different preparations. Theoretically they should all work no matter which brand I use.
Now I want to increase Diltiazem to 180 mg Long Acting in the night instead of Diltiems LA 120 mg bd. Can I add Diltiazem MR 60 mg at night? Because if I go for Diltiazem 180 mg the Chemist might give me another brand.
I find this business of different preparations bit baffling. Can someone advice me please? Thank you.
