In need of details.

1. Wikipedia says that the footbridge was fixed in 1951 and again in 1980. Does this mean that in all this time there was a footbridge (save maybe for a short time in 1951 and 1980, during construction)?

2. Would people only cross it if they had to or would people do so for the view? In other words, it seems like a pretty walk with nice views, but was the bridge unpleasant to cross (beggars on the bridge, dodgy people etc.)?

3. How broad was it? Could two people walk there side by side? How high was the railing? Was the walkway itself wood or iron (could you see the river below your feet?). Were the trains crossing the bridge visible to pedestrians also crossing or was there a wall separating them?

4. Where was the entrance/exit for this bridge on either side of the river?

Really, any details you might think of would be very helpful.

Thank you :-)
