I live in a county that has an older landfill and lechate is a problem. Currently it is trucked to another county for disposal. According to a recent newpaper report the country is going to be transporting the lechate to a local facility to be disposed of via a deep well injection system. My concern is for the present there are no problems but I wonder what about the future? How safe is deep well injection? Nothing has endless capacity and if something goes wrong somewhere down the well, What then? Landfills exist all over the world, has anyone developed a real good process for handling lechate?
